Tirupati Darshan: Tirumala Balaji Darshan Types
Every way to see Srivari at Tirumala, and what the day is really like.
A few seconds with Srivari, planned well

Same temple, same Lord, very different day. Here is what we wish someone had told us before that first visit.

- Around 3 AMSuprabhatam, the temple wakes up
- Early morningQueues start moving after the morning sevas
- Through the dayDarshan in time slots, short breaks for rituals
- Late nightEkantha Seva, the temple closes for the day

Tuesday to Thursday is usually the calmest. Saturday is Srivari's special day and the busiest.
Eat before the queue
Have something light before you join. Long waits on an empty stomach are hard for elders.

Tirupati darshan questions
What devotees ask us most before their first darshan.
Which darshan is best for a first visit to Tirupati?
If you can plan ahead, the ₹300 Special Entry Darshan is the easiest choice. You get a fixed time slot and the wait is usually two to four hours. If tickets are sold out, reach Tirupati a day early and take a free SSD token.
Is free darshan available at Tirumala every day?
Yes. Sarva Darshan is free and open to everyone, every day of the year. On weekends and festival days the wait can go beyond 20 hours, so a free SSD time slot token taken in Tirupati makes the day much easier.
When are ₹300 darshan tickets released?
TTD usually releases the ₹300 Special Entry quota online about three months in advance, and the dates are announced a few days before. Popular dates sell out within minutes. Check our ticket release dates page.
How long does the darshan itself last?
Only a few seconds in front of the Lord. The queue keeps moving, so keep your prayer ready and look at Srivari calmly when you reach the sanctum. Most devotees say those few seconds feel much longer.
What is the best day to visit for a shorter wait?
Tuesday to Thursday is usually the calmest. Saturdays, Sundays, school holidays and festival days are the busiest. Avoid Brahmotsavam and Vaikunta Ekadasi unless you are ready for very long queues.
Do children need a darshan ticket?
Children under 12 usually do not need a separate ₹300 ticket when they come with their parents, but TTD rules can change, so check while booking. Carry a birth certificate or Aadhaar for the child.
Can I take my mobile phone inside the temple?
No. Phones, cameras, smart watches and bags are not allowed inside. Leave them in your room or at the free deposit counters near the queue entry and collect them after darshan.
What ID do I need for Tirupati darshan?
Carry the original of the same photo ID you used while booking, usually Aadhaar. Every adult in the group needs their own ID at the checking point. Photocopies and phone photos are often not accepted.
