Tirumala Darshan Waiting Time Today and Crowd Status
How we read the crowd before we leave Tirupati for the hill.
The one number we check every morning
On our last Saturday trip the TTD update said all compartments were full and the wait for Sarva Darshan was close to 24 hours. We changed plan, took slot tokens and slept well in Tirupati instead of sitting in a hall all night.
Crowd at Tirumala changes by the hour. We always read the latest waiting time first and then decide between free darshan, a ₹300 ticket or another day.
Quick answer: Tirumala darshan waiting time today is posted by TTD every morning: how many Vaikuntam queue compartments are full and how many hours free Sarva Darshan takes. Under 8 hours is a calm day, 12 to 20 hours is busy and over 20 hours is heavy rush.

Signs that tell you the rush
These are the things we look at to judge how heavy the day will be.
Compartments full
The Vaikuntam queue complex has many halls. When TTD says all are full and people are waiting outside, expect a long day in the free line.

If time slot tokens for the day are already over at the Tirupati counters, the rush for the next day is usually high too.

Free Sarva Darshan without a token is the longest line, often 10 to 24 hours on weekends. With an SSD time slot token the wait after your slot time is usually 3 to 6 hours.
How can I guess Tirumala darshan waiting time tomorrow?
Look at the day. Saturday, Sunday, public holidays, school vacations and festival days are heavy. If today is already over 15 hours and tomorrow is a weekend, expect more. Weekdays after a festival are usually calmer.
How do I know the Tirumala crowd today?
TTD shares a daily update with the number of compartments in use and the approximate waiting time for Sarva Darshan. Many news sites repeat it. We read the latest one on the morning we travel.
What does compartments full mean?
The Vaikuntam queue complex has many waiting halls. When all are full, devotees wait in lines outside too. It means the free line may take a whole day or longer, so a slot token or ticket is wiser.

How long is the Sarva Darshan wait on weekends?
It often runs from 15 to 30 hours on busy weekends without a token. On calm weekdays it can be much less. These are rough numbers from our trips, so always read the TTD update.
Does a ₹300 ticket help on a crowded day?
Yes. Holders of the ₹300 Special Entry ticket report at their slot time and usually finish in a few hours, even when the free line is very long.
