Getting a room after you reach the hill
If you did not book online, go to the Central Reception Office (CRO) or the sub enquiry offices on the hill. Register with your original ID and wait for an SMS with the room allotted. On busy days this can take hours, so we keep a backup stay in Tirupati.
Once allotted, pay the rent and the deposit at the counter. The deposit is refunded after you vacate, as per TTD rules.
Check in time and check out time are printed on the allotment slip. Most rooms are given for about 24 hours. If you need to stay longer, ask at the office, but extensions are not easy on busy days.

Questions about Tirumala room booking
We have answered some common doubts about staying on the hill.
How do I do Tirumala room booking online?
Log in on the official TTD website, choose Accommodation, pick Tirumala or Tirupati, date and room type, and pay the rent online. The deposit is paid at check in and refunded to your account after you vacate.
Can I get rooms in Tirumala near the temple?
Many TTD cottages and guest houses are within walking distance or a free bus ride of the temple. Rooms near the temple sell out first online, so book on release day or try current booking early in the morning.
Are there private rooms in Tirumala?
No. All rooms in Tirumala belong to TTD. If someone offers private rooms in Tirumala, do not pay. Private hotels are in Tirupati town, about 20 km below the hill.
Can we get rooms on arrival?
Yes, you can get rooms after reaching Tirumala by going to the central reception office. There are counters for current booking. However, the queue is usually very long and rooms get filled fast. It is better to check the free Sarva Darshan SSD token status before you decide to wait for many hours.
How much is the deposit?
TTD takes a caution deposit when you book a room. This amount is usually the same as the room rent. For example, if the room is 100 rupees, you pay 200 rupees total. The extra 100 rupees is sent back to your bank account after you check out properly. TTD changes these amounts sometimes.
Is there a limit on stay?
Usually, TTD allows you to stay for only 24 hours on the hill. This is to make sure every devotee gets a chance to stay near the temple. Extensions are very hard to get and only allowed in special cases. If you need more time, you might have to move to Tirupati town.
What if we reach late?
TTD has a specific time window for check-in. If you are more than a few hours late, they might cancel your booking and give the room to someone else. It is always better to reach Tirumala a bit early. If you are delayed, you can try talking to the allotment office for help.
Are there ac rooms?
Most rooms on the hill are simple with basic fans. There are very few ac guest houses available for the general public. If you really need ac because of health or weather, you can look for rooms in Tirupati town. Most devotees find the hill weather pleasant enough for non-ac rooms.
